It's funny. When I heard the rumors of late July-early or mid-August for a new PS5 model, I actually rushed out and told my GF that I wanted a disc-based PS5 now for my birthday, despite my actual birthday being at the end of August. Why? Because when it comes to consoles, I always like to collect the original iteration, not the revisions (cosmetic or major functional changes). So she went ahead and bought me a PS5 early, and man... I couldn't be happier. Not that the new console will be bad or anything, I'm sure it won't. But if I hadn't nabbed the OG, I'd have had to get it used, and that would have sucked.

So you always get the OG model?

The PS5 is the first one I didn't get the last revision, mostly because I've ever been 1 or 2 gens behind the actual one, lol, but it kinda did make me think if I should not wait for the PS5 slim back then xD

It's just a quirk of mine. I don't sell them, I collect them. And I find the original models to have the most collectability. Slim versions, and super slims... they usually are technically superior mechanically and functionally, but it's the original model that normally leaves the most indelible mark on the public; more iconic etc.
