The PS5 has only one motherboard, and the size of the unit is larger because it matches the size of the motherboard.
Probably to reduce costs.
while Series X is made with two motherboards to reduce its size.
The heatsink is far smaller than the main unit, so power consumption probably did not dictate the size.
