The gap between high quality CGI and in-game visuals remains massive, so these saved resources could come in handy. 4K is an overkill as is (1440p is perfectly fine to me). 8K is ridiculous outside VR and should be reserved for indies and smaller games that don't push the console (The Touryst runs at 8K 60fps on base PS5). Resolution is after all workload dependant. |
1440p makes sense in 60 fps modes, but for 30 fps mode you want that crisp 4K since vast majority of people have 4K TV's now.
That said I want 4K to remain a standard for PS6 as well, not chasing that stupid 8K dream.
