Resolution diminishing returns is good news. It implies that starting from PS6 or the equivalent Xbox, much less resources would be wasted on pixels. The gap between high quality CGI and in-game visuals remains massive, so these saved resources could come in handy.
4K is an overkill as is (1440p is perfectly fine to me). 8K is ridiculous outside VR and should be reserved for indies and smaller games that don't push the console (The Touryst runs at 8K 60fps on base PS5). Resolution is after all workload dependant.
