I wonder if people back then worried about those jobs vanishing to mechanical computers the same way people worry about artists or writers losing work to AI today?

I also wonder how computing/programming turned from a female dominated profession to a male dominated one. It was mostly women that did computing and so also the first to become programmers. And I'm sure they worried, but women didn't have much of a voice back then :/
