Back a few months ago, I theorized that a small but legit concern Sony might have with MS's proposal is that MS might have been seeking to override/replace Sony's marketing agreement.

We've not seen anything that suggests or contradicts this but just a hunch base on the fact it'll be strange to see MS still only marketing CoD for PlayStation and making exclusive content for PlayStation so it would make sense to add such a clause.

My understanding is that the current Sony CoD marketing deal runs through 2024, but only covers one more game, which is supposedly releasing later this year according to leaks from earlier this year. However, considering it is now mid July and Activision has yet to announce a 2023 CoD game (this is the latest into a year that they have ever gone before announcing the yearly CoD game I believe), I'm starting to think that CoD 2023 has been delayed into 2024. However, if CoD 2023 does release later this year afterall, then it would presumably have Sony marketing and exclusive content yet again since Sony already paid for it. Then if CoD 2024 happens after CoD 2023, I would assume it would have to have neutral marketing, as Sony's marketing exclusivity deal runs through 2024 but only covers one more game, meaning no Sony marketing for that CoD 2024, but also that Xbox can't market it with Xbox logos either due the Sony exclusive marketing deal still being in place. Then after CoD 2024, Xbox could finally market CoD games and release them day one into Gamepass.

However, if CoD 2023 does indeed release later this year instead of being delayed into 2024, I don't think we will see a CoD 2024 after CoD 2023, as Phil has already suggest that he plans to do away with yearly CoD releases, I'm guessing Phil will delay CoD 2024 to 2025.

You might be right, and there's also the Nintendo contract which includes day 1 release and parity of content and feature if this is the case and cover the very next entry they would absolutely need to delay it to 2024.
