Two years after being removed from Steam, 2014's strangest horror shooter is back on GOG, and it's free
https://www.pcgamer.com/two-years-after-being-removed-from-steam-2014s-strangest-horror-shooter-is-back-on-gog-and-its-free/
Two years after it was unceremoniously removed from Steam, the mostly-monochromatic first-person stealth-action game Betrayer has returned to life on GOG—and it's free, too.
Set in the early days of colonial America, Betrayer begins with players washed up on the shores of what is now Virginia, alone and unprovisioned. A short path leads to a nearby fort, which is oddly abandoned except for the presence of strange, slightly disturbing figures of ashes. The surrounding landscape is filled with Native American warriors and Spanish conquistadors, all of them hostile; the one non-enemy in the game, the Maiden in Red, is clearly working through some issues of her own.
>> It's not known if this is a temporal deal of if it will be permanently free.
Future Diablo 4 seasons might not require an entirely new character
https://www.pcgamer.com/future-diablo-4-seasons-might-not-require-an-entirely-new-character/
Diablo 4 requires you to make a new character every season and that fact has everyone imagining a world where that isn't the case. (...)
It turns out, Diablo 3 has had an answer to this for years now. Its Rebirth feature lets you transfer an existing character over to a season, but all their items stay behind and they start the season at level 1. (...)
The new character customization options in Diablo 4 would make a Rebirth feature even more valuable than in Diablo 3, and, according to global community development director Adam Fletcher, "the team is aware" that people would love to see this added in the future.
Multiclassing with Baldur's Gate 3's super low level cap sounds like a stressful—but potentially fun—way to play

One smaller detail that got lost in the sauce of Larian's final Panel From Hell preview of Baldur's Gate 3 was the final confirmation that it will allow multiclassing, combining classes to maximize their strengths (or, potentially, their weaknesses).
Study finds around 87 percent of games are unplayable without resorting to piracy, scavenger hunts, or travelling to an archive
https://www.pcgamer.com/study-finds-over-87-percent-of-games-are-unplayable-without-resorting-to-piracy-scavenger-hunts-or-travelling-to-an-archive/
A study by the Video Game History Foundation, a "non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and teaching the history of video games", has found that most antique games are beyond the reach of fans unwilling to brandish the black flag on the digital high seas.
"87% of classic video games released in the United States are critically endangered," claims the study. "Just 13% of video game history is being represented in the current marketplace. In fact, no period of video game history defined in this study even cracked 20% representation."
EA Sports FC reveals cover with the most jankass footballer faces you've ever seen

EA Sports is embarking on a huge re-branding exercise, with 2023 the first year it will release a football game without the FIFA imprimatur. The new-look EA Sports FC branding has been omnipresent at football matches and in coverage for a while now, but with EA ready to show off the game fans are finally getting a glimpse of what to expect. And it seems to be very bad faces.
