It's likely nothing.
But after Russia blew the Kakhovka Dam and caused massive environmental destruction which will last dozens of years, destroyed the lives of thousands, and the worlds reaction was largely to just shrug it off and move on, a downright pathetic reaction, maybe Russia feels more emboldened to cause damage to the nuclear power plant, knowing that once again, the west will likely just pathetically shrug it off.
Again, it's likely nothing, I wouldn't panic, but I wouldn't put it past them to try to cause some permanent damage to the plant to put it out of commission so that Ukraine can't repair it and cause Ukraine a major economic loss long-term. I don't think they'll cause radiation damage but then again, they're so fucking stupid and incompetent that they may do it accidentally.
West should make clear that blowing up the power plant is our red line, should also say any intentional destruction to the power plant will cause an extreme escalation in our support towards Ukraine, new severe sanction packages, new military aid packages, lifting of restrictions on certain weaponry (no range limits for Ukraine, allowing Ukraine to use Western equipment on Russian soil, etc).
