Yea pretty much which is surprising since SE usually puts a lot of effort into it. But yea the story and character arcs are quite good if not very brutal. Feels like a story for grown ups than the usual anime/weeb targeted nature of past FF games which I also do like but it's a nice change of pace. I was initially under the impression it would be largely linear but some of the later levels does open up.

I do like the boss battles quite a lot. Their scale feels like Azuras Wrath in terms of battles and the character designs on those are what I come to expect from a FF game. The music is also quite good and at times, it does give me the next gen feel even if it's not all the time. Hopefully when it comes to PC, the modders will revamp a lot of these generic characters so we can have the proper experience lol.

True you can tell a lot of work has been done to make the lore complete as it is. Its just a few technical things that I wished were a done a bit better. Faces, animations and tech included. Won't be for some time but interested to see what modders come up with this game with it does launch on PC.

And yeah its a lot more mature in its story and presentation. And far less light hearted and tongue in cheek, you'd come to expect from FF like in the older games. But it does have its moments which positively contrasts it. And its always cool to always see the usual reoccuring names pop up here and there. To be perfectly honest though I way prefer the tone in this game to the more recent cheesy and lets say anime-like mainline games before - FF7R non withstanding.

Agreed, there's nothing like a good FF. The sense of awe and granduer you just can't find in most other games especially in big battles. And the music just flows with the epic'ness. So, damn good. Now back to playing lol.
