Granted, this reinvigorated partnership is pretty recent when Square completely abandoned Nintendo during the N64 era and onward. Square did heavily support Nintendo during the DS/3DS era. But just during the Switch's lifetime, Square started their whole HD-2D endeavor exclusively with Nintendo with Octopath Traveler, and has led to several other timed exclusives. So while Nintendo may not get mainline Final Fantasy games or Star Ocean, Nintendo's partnership with Square has grown dramatically and is arguably almost as strong as it was during the SNES era. Can't say the same for Xbox. |
