If RROD had never existed, do you think 360 sales could've been far better?

You're right about that. The userbase appears to contain an amazingly hardcore bunch of users who spend all their money on games. Last gen the PS2 had the hardcore but it also had casuals so the attach rate was lower. This gen the casuals have gone with the Wii, leaving the 360 with most of the hardcore. The result is a lower userbase with an excellent attach rate.
