Well, considering that to avoid RROD would have required more testing and a delayed launch, I think it would have been a wash. It would have come out 6 months to a year later so it would have lost alot of the head start it had.
If MS had stepped up and admitted the problem right away they would have been better off also. Denying it was a problem for over a year left a bad taste in people's mouth.
They deserve the poor sales after putting out crap hardware and taking over a year to fess up to it.
