"Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a game that utilises dimensions and dimensional rifts, and that would not have been possible without the solid state drive of the PlayStation 5," explains Smith. "The SSD is screamingly fast, it allows us to build worlds and project players from one place to another at near-instantaneous speeds."

I feel like there's two different ways to read this. In like absolute terms or in relative terms.

Like if someone  says "this party would not have been possible without Karen", most people would just assume they meant like Karen put the party together or was somehow an inspiration for the party. I doubt anyone would take it as Karen is the only reason that party was physically possible.

I don't think there are many instances where we would take that phrase in such an absolute kind of way. Unless you're talking about breaking the laws of physics, I think we tend to take that phrasing more metaphorically.

But of course, it's marketing speech so we have to be extra critical.

That's part of the problem though lol. There shouldn't be more than a single way of interpreting what marketing is saying, but because there is, that's what's causing confusion and even anger online lol. The gaming community isn't exactly what I could consider to be the most understanding group so it's unfortunate, but like all fake online anger, it'll pass. I'll be busy playing Rachet & Clank again on July 26th

If you want only one way to read a marketing stunt them it would always be "we are exaggerating to sell our product".
