I know Insomniac was publicly at the time only comparing the hard drive speeds to the PS4 to make the game possible, BUT, it's only a 2 year difference between console release and PC release. So either the port was barely starting development or was in the planning stage for the game to be ported. PC ports don't happen over night. God of War took at least 2 years to port according to the devs. Insomniac knew what they were doing with their marketing.

So while they're not outright contradicting themselves, they did so passively because their marketing was very straightforward that the PS5 was the only way to run the game. Some of us obviously knew what Insomniac were referring to, but just the fact that the game is being ported to PC will cause many to view it as Insomniac contradicting themselves.

You're reading way too much into this. Nixxies are on board and handling the port. Considering what they've already done with Insomniacs engine, getting this port out would've been a lot easier and less time consuming then normal.

That's....not what I'm talking about at all lol. There's a huge discourse online that R&C: Rift Apart is a gotcha moment and that the PS5 SSD is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Obviously not the case, but Insomniac's marketing and tech demonstrations of the game prior to launch was all about "the game is only possible on PS5" which of course is in comparison to the PS4. So while not actually contradicting themselves, how could they have not known the backlash from many that will have wrongly interpreted their marketing at the consoles release once the PC version was announced?
