I agree with the OP wholeheartedly.

I also think a big contributing factor to this problem is FOMO. There were plenty of warning signs that Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be a buggy mess, and yet it sold 13 million copies in its first week. This is the normal cycle for big budget releases. First there is the marketing hype train, and then people buy the game at launch because of FOMO. Then a few months later you can get the game at a fraction of launch price. Yet people want to get the game when everyone on the internet is talking about it. And so the cycle continues....
