It's good timing for me because I only have one controller and the batteries somehow got busted inside and ruined it. Probably from my toddler accidentally dropping it one too many times so I'm currently playing exclusively in wired mode.

Isopropyl alcohol (99%) and a toothbrush or cotton swabs can do the trick, sometimes that's just a short somewhere that goes away by simply cleaning it. 

I actually saved a controller just this way but it also needed replacing battery contacts (I did not view that in time )
