Wow, sure am glad I missed the Sony Showcase. If I had watched that whole thing live I would have been so disappointed, even just skimming through the trailers I was a bit let down by it. The best games were by far games we already knew were coming like AC Mirage, Granblue, Dragon's Dogma 2, and Alan Wake 2, almost all of the new announcements were underwhelming, from the Splatoon knockoff, to yet another Souls-like in an already Souls-like crowded market, to the eat the rich GaaS game from Jade Raymond which just felt like Ubisoft's Watch Dogs if it were all multiplayer. And then there was Project Q, a wi-fi only streaming handheld meaning it is largely useless outside of the house, that thing is going to make the Vita seem like it was a successful handheld by comparison.

And to think I was worried Sony was going to put the finishing blow on Xbox's marketshare chances this gen by announcing multiple AAA timed hats from established AAA franchises like Bioshock and Dragon Age, they could have afforded to do that as they have more than enough cash on hand and are able to get hats for cheaper since they are the marketshare leader, but instead they left the door wide open for Xbox to have a much better showcase than them.

Sony has given Xbox a golden opportunity to start to make up some lost ground. Xbox needs to have a stellar showcase, fix the X supply issues and S pricing issues asap, and then nail the Starfield launch in September and have a strong holiday exclusive like Hellblade 2. Better not F up this golden opportunity to make up some lost ground Xbox.

Lmao, it was so hilarious they opened the show with that. I was literally rushing back from breakfast to catch the show, and because you'd expect them to open with something strong I plonked my headphones on before I'd completely finished cleaning up; I heard the first 5 seconds of dialogue, saw the generic hipster wannabe hacker/activist imagery, immediately went 'I can just fucking ignore this' and went back to finish what I was doing.

Was there some mandate for their first few trailers to all move in rhythm with techno wubstep music? Is that how they lure the kids in these days? I thought it was about to become their version of Nintendo and farming simulators.
