Honestly, this must be a unpopular opinion, but... I like both action RPGs and traditional RPGs. However, I don't play Final Fantasy for the gameplay. I play IT for the story, the characters, the amazing cutscenes, the epic soundtrack and visuals,,, I don't really mind if they are going for a "hack'n slash" style, in fact, I don't even dislike that. As long as the game has a plot worthy of the Final Fantasy franchise, I'll dig in.

I like both Turn-Based and Action as well. Hell, I even like the Bump system of 80s JRPGs like Ys I-II. There are so many variations of turn-based anyway. Xenoblade series uses a variation. Dragon Age Origin did (sword swing is still a dice roll based on stats)  It's a fun system when used well. Not seen many fuck it up tbh. Action is just a lot harder to do in 3D. So many fuck it up or it feels off. Combat in 16 looks great but as mentioned before not surprised when DMC talent worked on it. It looks like the combat they hoped to achieve with XV but could not. XV's main issues tho were the lack of story and what was there, sucked. My issue with FF7R was the Kingdom Hearts bullshit and retconning to make FF7's story less sad & more black-and-white characterization. Nomura is just a shitty writer.
