I find the Square Enix hate to be a bit laughably exaggerated. Compared to XGS, they've quietly released several hidden gems over the last year or so. All of them with physical releases and smart delivery too. And even threw a bone with a same-day release of the Crisis Core remaster, which was both designed and optimised well across all systems.

....

If they were to announce Final Fantasy VII Remake finally making it's way over, how would this thread even react? Just grumble that it's 2 years later than PS5 and 3 years later than PS4? Meanwhile continue to have endless patience and tolerance for XGS for a second straight gen.

I mean come on, yes some games are coming out on Xbox but any new AAA that matters (FF16, FF7R) are not, simple as that. The hate is justified, those games are the one that matters.

I own a Play Station 5 and played the game on it but FF7R is by far the best Final Fantasy game of this generation, next will be 16. And NONE of them are on Xbox because of the exclusivity deals. Other games like Reunion are not even close in terms of quality; Sony does not even care paying for those deals; what would be the point.

If FF7R finally comes to Xbox; of course, it will be good news and people will be happy but SE is clearly keeping their best new titles in the FF for Sony...

I do not hate them per se, but they are def. not something I'm looking for (because I know that half of the good shit will not come to Xbox and I'll be forced to play it on Play Station).

For the second part, games take WAY more than 2 years to develop. That's how it is, this generation is just a ramp-up for the majority of those studios.
While the content in the past 6 months was dry (I give you that); it is way better than last gens AND people need to stop pretending that they are not aware of all those titles in development. We know the list, they are a lot. It just takes time... But this is not related to the way Square Enix is dealing with Sony versus Microsoft.

Luckly SE isn't the only real producer of rpg's anymore, they do make a lot of but there are plenty of great choices out there that are available on Xbox like the newly available Persona series, plenty of indie rpg like Chained Ehcoes, and there are rumors of the Y's games coming soon.  Dragon Quest 11 and Octopath Traveler 1 are my favorite SE games of the last 10 years, and both did come to Xbox.  Things can certainly change, if Xbox can get on that one 1st party game per quarter release schedule, the sales will come.  The more consoles sold, the harder it is for developers to ignore the Xbox.  The more console sold, the more expensive it is for Sony to pay for the exclusives.
