Has anyone else noticed the only people taking issue with my input here are two avid HD/Sony supporters such as Windbane and DMeisterJ? And why is the only person trying to argue with Rocketpig's thoughts on the game an avid MGS fan?
Also notice how they carefully avoid trying to refute any of my specific claims, rather they either question my credibility to make such deductions or try to dodge the point altogether.
I think the fact these guys are the only ones here trying to contest the fairly reasonable opinions of mine and Rocketpigs speaks volumes of situation. :)
MGS4 is a game that appeals to people who want to like it, everyone else sees it pretty much for what it really is, a decent A (possibly AA) game and reminder that Kojima isn't really that good a story teller. Long Cut Scenes are forgiveable, even if they do speak to poor utilization of the medium, but as a whole the game does draw attention to its flaws despite its excellent presentation and you'll forgive people for not calling this to the attention of others in disecting what makes the game tic.
But don't take my word for it, why not see what Zero Punctuation or Penny Arcade have to say about the game, actual sources with standards (all be them somewhat lofty with Zero Punctuation) and integrity. It doesn't take a genius to see the writing on the wall. This game has a solid presentation, but isn't that great as a whole and only really excells in its production budget not its actual achievement as a game.
