Yeah.

They shot themselves in the hand, foot and stomach.

  • Way more expensive than Xbox.
  • A year later than Xbox
  • Harder to develop for than Xbox which led to a lot of easy exclusives for Xbox.
  • Dumb PR moments "second job"
  • Had no Kinect fad to boost sales.
  • Xbox Live was the gold standard of Online Play, Xbox + Modern Warfare was the go to, PSN was far behind.

And PS3 still beat Xbox 360 in the end. Lol.

PlayStation is a juggernaut.

And 360 had RROD going so far that they were under scrutinity in Eu with thread after thread expecting that Eu could ban X360, then X360 had indeed Gold but pay to play online with friends is dumb and no on wants to do so, supporting HD DVD, having small storage capicity on every disc so some games would be impossible on X360, being dev unfriendly (want to release a patch => 10.000$ cost. 

In the end PS3 came back with a ton of games, X360 had the indie market (summer/Winter of arcade) but they gave up on it and Sony took over with games like Journey being one of the big ones, also PSN was very bad but they came back with having an rewarding service with monthly free games. Meanwhile xbox was like 'Free monthly games, ha we not even give them free online and we have more subs'  'We don't need big games, we have kinect!'
