that fanbase

That's the issue. The "fanbase" of the Wii U is/was 13.5 million, the Switch is way over 120 million. Saying "people won't change now" is kind of a silly excuse to me. If the console has great killer apps, it will sell. That was always the rule. Not releasing significant games over a year and then "yeah we wouldn't sell much anyway" is a weird conclusion. Like when EA said "our data showed people are more playing Madden and the Sims on PS and Xbox rather than the Switch" (cause they aren't on the Switch)

I think you're misinterpreting me because I never said that, Lol. Of course a console will sell if it has great 1st parties. That isn't my point nor Phil's, I'm not and he is not saying it won't increase sales, we're saying they won't beat PlayStation.

Which I think is true. PlayStation is on lock for 100m+ as the floor and their lowest console was 85m, Xbox's best ever was 87m and it needed Kinect to give it a major end of life boost and multiple PlayStation screwups.

PlayStation with no screwups? Will beat Xbox, easy, even if Xbox releases a bunch of awesome titles, because so will Sony and they're already riding high off the incredible userbase they have built up, a large userbase who will be entrenched deeply into the system, the spending habits of gamers on Xbox/PlayStation will be different to those on Switch, I.E. As I mentioned, the millions of CoD/Fortnite fans who won't want to lose their stuff.

My prediction which I posted earlier is on the basis of everything being released, at minimum 8/10 for each one, and whatever else they have, I still think Xbox will be around 60-70m and PlayStation will be around 110m+ Taking away a few million as well to account for the fact that you don't need an Xbox if you have a good PC.

1st party is one part of why a console sells, a key part, but there are other factors too, Wii U could have had all the exclusives in the world, it did have a few great ones, but nobody wanted the Wii U itself. 3rd parties push Xbox/PlayStation way more than they do Nintendo consoles too, Xbox/PlayStation are far more heavily multiplayer orientated which leads into people not abandoning the console where their friends are at, Switch appeals to the huge handheld market, etc. etc.
