Another reason could be Sony is looking to maximaze profit and not console hardware sales. As Sony probably could had release another ps4 slim and dropped price further. |
Both companies could have dropped the price more, but likely both saw that a price contest would just make them lose money without enough sales won to justify it. Even PS4Slim calculation of like dropping 100 USD when PS5 launched would need like 10 or 20M of consoles sold to make sense (based on the revenue from PS+ and SW that they could get).
