Well, all motherboard makers have "one*button OC" features on their boards, and most, if not all, of them rely on higher voltages to get higher clocks. That's why limiting voltage increases was something they probably didn't want to do, because it would affect the performance of their products and how the consumers would see them.

And yeah, maybe you got rid of your old hardware a bit too fast, but there's nothing you can do about it now.

With that said, and knowing that some of the problems come from EXPO and RAM, maybe you'll want to dial down your kit to "only" 6000MHz to go easy on the voltage.
