China borders three of those states (Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan and Taijistan) and two others (Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan) aren’t a million miles away either so that would be a pretty alarming thing for them to hear.

China also has historically claimed some of Kyrgyzstan and Taijistan’s territory so potentially doubly concerning for them.
