I have a current generation Chromecast that has 2GB of Ram, 1.9GHZ ARM Cortex A55 Quad-Core, Mali G31 GPU.
It runs everything flawlessly. It is the lowest of the low-end for today hardware.

If you are running it on the older Chromcasts that only have 256MB-512MB of memory, then that's your issue.

I specifically said "Chromecast with Google TV" which is the most recent ones (the older models didn't have GoogleTV/Android TV in it).

Bought it 3 months ago. GeForce Now doesn't run properly on it, the stream freezes. Nothing else, everything runs great. But with GeForce Now, it freezes. And I am not the only one reporting the issue.

There are multiple variants of "Chromecast with Google TV". - So my apologies not being able to see into your living room to ascertain which specific model you posses due to your reluctance or inability to identify which specific model you have.

You have:
* Chromecast with Google TV (4k)
With: 1.9Ghz Quad-Core ARM A55+2GB Ram+Mali G31 @850Mhz.

* Chromecast with Google TV (HD)
With: 1.2Ghz Quad-Core ARM A53+1.5GB Ram+Mali G31 @650Mhz.
It's a big difference in capability.

A55 alone has about 15-20% more performance at the same clock compared to A53, let alone the extra 700Mhz of clockrate. (58%).

If you are DRAM constrained and running a few apps, then 1.5GB isn't going to get you far.

Again, not everyone exhibits the same issues, so it is more than possible to run Geforce Now on these devices.
For example this person does just that and without issues:

Sure if it truly is just streaming then it's internals can be extremely barebones, a snapdragon 400 series level chip for example, but at the same time we have Microsoft saying they didn't release the keystone streaming console because they couldn't get the price down to around $130 so it'd be too close in price to the Series S to warrant releasing. This would no doubt be more expensive a product than that so I don't see this launching for under $199. Which at that point is already getting into actual handheld console territory. You could just get something like the Ayn Odin for that price which supports ps5 remote play already and has the advantage of running a lot more besides just that. And of course the Switch Lite. If Sony can offer this for $149 I would be pleasantly surprised.

Handheld Console is the wrong terminology if it is what they say it is. It's a peripheral.

Xbox Boss On Keystone Price Point: $99 - $129 USD Would 'Make Sense' | Pure Xbox

"I don’t want to announce pricing specifically, but I think you’ve got to be $129, $99, like somewhere in there for that to make sense in my view, that we just weren’t there."

Agreed. It is a peripheral.

The pricing is a bit of an iffy one though, if Sony can leverage a lower price in order to accrue subscriptions, then that could subsidise the devices cost.

LCD and NAND prices are rock bottom right now, so it's a good time to capitalise on that.
