It won't develop into anything. The entire thing is ludicrous from a handful of moronic politicians that don't understand the games industry and just want an American based company to be more successful.

They're going to somehow ban Sony from making exclusive deals because Xbox isn't popular in Japan? I don't think so.

It wouldn't change Xbox fortunes in Japan anyway. They got FF last gen. It was their worst generation in Japan by far.

They're not going to ban them for the few exclusivity deals (most exclusives aren't "deal" based anyway), but they might threaten against a publisher acquisition by Sony. They're sort of giving them a warning here.

They succeeded in acquiring one massive developer/IP (Mojang/Minecraft) and two major publishers (ABK soon) without much trouble using the hardware marketshare excuse. So they'll be happy to spam the same excuse for as long as it works.

Regulator: "You already have more than twice the developers, higher software sales, and bigger IP's than Sony."

MS: "BuT looK aT tHe MarKEtSharE!!1!"

Regulator: "THIS MAKES SENSE! Naughty Sony..."

I just can't stop laughing/cringing at MS being rewarded for sheer incompetence.

That is why some users like to say MS objective isn't selling most consoles =p
