The most recent years I have tried new games but tossed them aside far easier compared to when i was younger. My time is to spare for games I do not enjoy.
Some of the more popular games I have given multiple 4+ hour sessions and still do not like. Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring come to mind. Acclaimed games loved by millions. The fear of missing out made me return to them. But I have come to the conclusion that I simply do not like massive open world games and now I do not try new games in the genre anymore.

Just need to remember that some games are worth a second or third look before I toss them aside for another rerun of a game I already played multiple times and know I enjoy.

I'm basically the same way. There are so many games coming out, and so many I haven't played in a long time, that I'm generally not going to invest in a game unless it grabs me within the first 5 hours. Marvel's Avengers and Jedi Fallen order come to mind for me. Maybe they would eventually get good, but I'm probably never going to know.

Surprised that you didn't like BOTW, but to each their own.
