I think Microsoft will chill for a couple of years after this, likely go for some independent studios though. Activision-Blizzard was just really hard and the political climate isn't in their favour. I'd be surprised if they try to acquire another publisher unless it's a counteroffer against someone else. What I would like to see is them take minority stakes in a few companies, such as Sega.

I do wonder if Sony's desperation to get the deal blocked and therefore convincing regulators to boot Nintendo from the market will backfire on them a little, Sony will receive more scrutiny on major acquisitions due to being a market leader but before that it included Nintendo, now it's just Xbox vs Sony and in some countries Sony dominates Xbox (I.E. Japan, as pointed out by the Senator under this made up market, Sony has a 96-98% share of it).

I believe they will still get acquisitions through but it will be a lot harder than before, Sony has ironically helped educate regulators on their dominance in the market and established themselves as the market leader by a significant margin. Once the maths was corrected, once people actually looked at the data, the Console SLC was dropped for Xbox.

Seems like Xbox has to worry more about a Cloud SLC than a Console SLC for the near future which sometimes feels more difficult because the Cloud SLC is based on a nascent market and a prediction of a future market, I think Xbox will have to worry more about if any future companies they acquire are strong Cloud supporters. Sony will have to be more concerned about a Console SLC.

Chill for a couple of years until they get a pubby? or anything all together? They can still and should go for smaller ones now. Especially if Sony will respond. Would lol if Sony f'ed themselves over for future buys.

In the meantime Sony will definitely be buying up more 3rd party games to take away from Xbox. Meltdowns in here will be funny though

Once this deal closes would love to see another interview asking Patriarch Philly of any news on buying any more studios.

Publisher...Unless it's a defensive move.
