Oh thank goodness. Offline play is being worked on! So like Back 4 Blood, offline play will be added as a post launch update. 

• There's no store in the game, and there's no microtransactions
• DLCs planned for the future
• Arkane is working to make the game playable without an internet connection
• lots of previews praise the gunplay
