In Tom's Hardware 4K benchmarks, the 6700 XT had 91.9% of the 3070's performance in 2021 and now it has 92.1% while also getting ahead in the 99th percentile. Since the 3080 aged better than the 6800, this might be a VRAM handicap on the mid-range parts despite RTG's low bandwidth + cache solution.
By my estimates, this means the 6700 should in fact surpass the 3070 circa 2112, so hold on until there for confirmation :D
