Yes, probably. VR will be interesting in this regard.

Ironically, I was actually baking my noodle trying to figure out why PlayStation doesn't plan to make the PSVR2 PC-compatible considering more and more of their titles are coming to PC and the PC market is where VR is the strongest, and then it dawned on me: this topic is likely why.  I think that somewhere along the line, some executives in marketing probably figured if they made it PC-compatible, it would get used with porn games or porn games and the optics would be bad.

Of course, that's just conjecture, but there's literally no other legitimate reason NOT to bring PSVR2 to the PC market with compatibility where it'll likely sell quite well.  For what it offers, it's a premium mid-grade VR headset, something missing in the PCVR scene (it's either cheap stuff or mega expensive stuff).

Ehhhh, I partially agree with this.  For the same reason we wouldn't show or encourage violent TV shows/games to kids, a similar limitation exists on porn.  However, in terms of adult content, then I'd have to agree: it seems that once you get into the adult section, the primarily western world of media happily pushes extreme violence, gore, etc. but shuns away from sex.  This naturally extends to the avoidance of porn or pornographic scenes.

I'd actually find the balance to be better if, say, a horror movie had literal pornographic sex scenes along with its also horror.  We always use "sex sells" in horror movies, but then only use the tip (usually boobs).  Flip that into the gaming industry, and we imply sex for romance, but I think if a game is already at that maturity level, showing actual sex should just be the case (and have a toggle for turning that OFF if the viewer wishes to).

I was referring to adult content yeah. The US is pretty strange in how it handles this, being so prudish with sex but going hardcore with violence isn't really how Europe handles it.

I'd actually go further to say it's more about Western society in general and *dun dun dun* the stronger prominence of Christianity.  Even though I'm keenly aware that many places in Europe quite literally embrace nudity as normal compared to here, it's still relatively tame compared to how Japan embraces these perversions.

Granted, I think Japan goes a bit TOO far, and the whole old-man-highschool-girl dynamic makes me a bit sick, but there's a reason the majority of anime is focused on highschoolers or young girls in general.  And this is ironic: Japan censors the private areas.  Yet let's face it: the reason anime is even a topic here is BECAUSE the most perversions in media content can be found in... anime lmfao

EDIT: Typo
