The main reason I bought a 4090 is cause I watched to scratch off buying a Halo product off my bucket list at some point. Considering there is no competition against the xx90 series this time around like there was with RDNA 2 and the gap between 4080 and 4090 being so big unlike 3080 vs 3090 and the gen on gen performance leap between 3090 and 4090 being around 70% in Raster, 87% increase in RT and essentially 2x compared to a 3080 in Raster not to mention the Vram increase... Seemed like the best time to do it. Especially as who knows what the future holds for graphics card prices.

So overall, my gaming GPU upgrade path so far has been:

Nvidia 9800GTX+ > Radeon 4870 > Radeon 6870 > Nvidia 970 > Nvidia 1080 > Nvidia 3080 > Nvidia 4090
