Not only that, but this time Microsoft owns the design of the whole console, GPU included. Even if ATI does the same as Nvidia did, Microsoft will still be able to manufacture the GPU, so they won't have to discontinue the 360. They learned from their mistake.
In the long run, things turned out well for MS though... Choosing ATI meant they ended up with a better 360 GPU than Nvidia could have designed at that time (with this GPU, ATI pioneered the unified shaders paradigm which Nvidia now uses too). Killing the Xbox had its problems, but it had its benefits to the 360 too.
