I'll give the benefit of the doubt because it's my CPU screen and I just watched it on a small screen....but I'd say it looks above average from first impressions.

The player models are good and the animations look really fluid, but I agree with KoW that the textures looks kind of low. I wouldn't say it looks like Crisis Core (although the targeting interface looks similar), but I'd put it in the 2nd Tier in terms of graphics. But I imagine it will look better on my TV.

I also don't like how the player goes all rigid in between attacks, I would have preferred he stayed in a battle stance like in FFXII. But that's a very small issue

For me, this game will live and die with its Story and Characters

There are action RPGs that have good stories and interesting characters but turn based RPGs are the ones that live and die by its story and characters

 

Unless the Battle system is spectacular, a poor Story and set of Characters can cause games to take a big hit in overall quality....for me anyway. Whether it is a TB-RPG or a Action-RPG
