That was a great interview -very fun stuff.
1. He didn't say the Wii isn't a gaming machine, he in fact emphasizes that it is a gaming console and part of the gaming market.
2. He's pointing out that their goal is to compete with Sony.
3. The reporter keeps on pressing for more information about the Wii - (scripted interview much?)
4. He sais the correct response as far as how the Wii is understood by the mass market.
I totally agree with what this guy is saying - but it wont be on a wide spread phenomina that Wii owners suddenly buy an Xbox360 and the two coexist. Microsoft is finally taking action though - by making 'casual' games they are saying "we want to cooperate with Nintendo's strategy." So what he's saying in that context makes sense but only in theory or on a smaller scale (like I said not likely wide spread.)
This is the point where Nintendo must show it's feathers - some people here forget that PR guys are just that, public relations, and that Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo are all open to the public - the public includes everyone and not just gamers. As far as I could tell he was talking to the small time investors - basically saying "We are making moves to get into Nintendo's market while taking Sony's."
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
