No greater tunnel was ever built, nor brighter light to show its wonders. Goodnight Greg Bear, and all my love to you and your family. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/FkvB1duVsO

Gone. RIP.
Absolutely loved his Forerunner Saga work, I know many were upset about revealing the Forerunners backstory (keep it a mystery), but he not only pulled the curtain back, but he also did an absolutely brilliant job at developing a backstory for both the Forerunner's and Flood. It's debateable whether you want to keep them a mystery or not but 343 decided not to and he did a great job with that.
Thanks to him, I love the Didact, and the Flood were alleviated to one of my favourite villains of all time. I've always wanted a Halo game based on his trilogy of books (RPG or RTS). They're incredibly densely packed Sci-Fi, more than anything Halo has put out in its history. One of the best Halo writers, up there with Staten, Nylund and Kelly.
Despite only writing 3 books, he has had an absolutely massive contribution to Halo's lore.
Incredibly sad news about Greg Bear, the author of 3 of my favourite books of all time that formed the basis of so much that I love about Halo
