Tuesday news, part two:

Dragonlance: Warriors of Krynn is 'a strategy game that really has D&D at its heart'
https://www.pcgamer.com/dragonlance-warriors-of-krynn-is-a-strategy-game-that-really-has-dandd-at-its-heart/
Dragonlance is "really D&D's setting for war," senior game designer Wes Schneider said during a recent press conference on its return to Dungeons & Dragons. "Dragonlance's story has been many things throughout the history of the setting but for 5th edition we're focusing on its most iconic conflict, the War of the Lance—this planet-spanning conflict between the forces of good and the incursions of the Dragon Queen Takhisis and her dragon armies."

https://www.pcgamer.com/public-voting-opens-for-the-ultimate-game-of-the-year-award/
Public voting has now opened for the Ultimate Game of the Year, the big kahuna of this year's 40th anniversary Golden Joystick Awards. Voting is only open for five days and this is to select the gaming community's favourite title of the year.

Dead Cells adds the Hotline Miami chicken dude, who crits stunned enemies with a bat
https://www.pcgamer.com/dead-cells-adds-the-hotline-miami-chicken-dude-who-crits-stunned-enemies-with-a-bat/
Dead Cells has been incredibly well-supported with free and paid updates ever since launch, to the extent that its latest extravaganza is the sequel to a previous indie crossover. The snappily named "Everyone Is Here Vol. II" update introduces six character costumes and weapons from other indie games and, most impressively, makes their existing abilities operate within Dead Cells' systems.

Mass Effect fan decodes hidden message from Liara in N7 Day teaser
https://www.pcgamer.com/mass-effect-fan-decodes-hidden-message-from-liara-in-n7-day-teaser/
N7 Day, BioWare's annual celebration of all things Mass Effect, used to be a pretty big deal. Its significance has waned in the post-Mass Effect 3 years, though, and the lukewarm reception to Andromeda did not do much to reverse that trend. This year's November 7 event didn't seem to bring much in the way of big news either—but a little audio decoding revealed a big surprise.

Starfield isn't just a Skyrim 'reskin' says head of Xbox Game Studios
https://www.pcgamer.com/starfield-isnt-just-a-skyrim-reskin-says-head-of-xbox-game-studios/
It's the second week of November. The leaves are turning, the days are getting shorter, the stress of the approaching holidays has begun gnawing at your nerves. This is all very familiar, but doesn't it feel like something is missing this year? What could it be?
Oh right, it's Starfield, Bethesda's space RPG. Originally supposed to be released this Friday, 11/11/22, Starfield's release was sadly postponed into 2023. On the plus side, even if we can't play it this week, we can still talk about it.

That wonderful little Gnome Child from RuneScape is coming to a MOBA near you

Smite, the long running mythology-themed MOBA, is having a crossover event with RuneScape, that fantasy MMO where everyone looks like Andross from Star Fox. You know the one, a surprising amount of people born between 1991 and 1998 have a ton of nostalgia for it? The piece de resistance is the inclusion of the Gnome Child, a wee fey scamp who has starred in internet memes for over a decade.

PS5 advert implies we're waiting an extra six months for Final Fantasy 16 on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/ps5-advert-implies-were-waiting-an-extra-six-months-for-final-fantasy-16-on-pc/
As reported by IGN, an advertisement shared by the official PlayStation Twitter account seems to indicate that we'll have to wait an extra six months for Final Fantasy 16 on PC. During a portion of the sizzle reel showcasing FF16, there's fine print reading "Final Fantasy 16 anticipated summer 2023. PS5 exclusive for six months."
>> Nothing new.

It's not at all clear what Call of Duty 2023 will be
https://www.pcgamer.com/its-not-at-all-clear-what-call-of-duty-2023-will-be/
Call of Duty fans of the world got a small shock to the system earlier this year when Bloomberg reported that, despite a 17-year streak of releasing new CoD games, Activision would be skipping 2023. In place of a traditional release, the report claimed at the time, efforts would be solely focused on continued updates for this year's game, Modern Warfare 2, and the upcoming free-to-play Warzone 2.0.
Activision didn't outright deny the report earlier this year, but said today in its Q3 financial report that there will, in fact, be a new "premium" Call of Duty next year. What that exactly means, however, remains less than clear.

Take-Two boss says the company is a 'hit factory' that'll always prefer delays to 'flops'
https://www.pcgamer.com/take-two-boss-says-the-company-is-a-hit-factory-thatll-always-prefer-game-delays-to-flops/
In its quarterly chat with investors today, GTA publisher Take-Two predicted that it would make a little less money this fiscal year than it had previously forecast: $5.4 to $5.5 billion in net sales, rather than $5.8 to $5.9 billion. And yet, the company is "highly optimistic" about future growth, largely because it has confidence in its upcoming games.

The Sims 4 will let you show off your Mass Effect obsession
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-sims-4-will-let-you-show-off-your-mass-effect-obsession/
The N7 celebrations are over, but your Sims don't have to know that. As part of BioWare's annual commemoration of all things Mass Effect, The Sims 4 is getting some themed goodies.
A post on BioWare's blog announced the collaboration, writing that "a few folks at BioWare and Maxis came together with their mutual love for Mass Effect and The Sims 4 to make a little something they wanted to give to fans of both franchises." The items will be included with the base game for free in an update arriving on November 17.

Massive Grand Theft Auto 6 leak 'won't have any influence on development,' says Take-Two boss
https://www.pcgamer.com/massive-grand-theft-auto-6-leak-wont-have-any-influence-on-development-says-take-two-boss/
TakeTwo is remaining headstrong in the face of September's Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, calling the situation "terribly unfortunate," but clarifying that it won't have any overarching impact on the game's development.
>> It was in September? It feels like it happened longer than that.

In this new Viking city builder, every citizen has their owns skills and personalities
https://www.pcgamer.com/in-this-new-viking-city-builder-every-citizen-has-their-owns-skills-and-personalities/
It isn't news that people love Vikings in video games. In just the past couple years we've seen Assassin's Creed: Valhalla become Ubisoft's biggest PC game launch ever and smash hit indie survival game Valheim sell millions of copies in early access. The interest in getting more Vikings on our computer monitors extends to city builders too, like 2021's strategy city builder Frozenheim and the upcoming (and rather bluntly named) Viking City Builder.
Well, pop on your historically inaccurate horned helmet, because there's another Viking city building game and it's launching into early access today on Steam. In Land of the Vikings you're a jarl in charge of a tiny northern camp with high hopes of growing it into a properly fearsome norse settlement.
>> It may be new for the folks of PCGamer, but there's been one or two articles about it at DSOGaming.
