Ps5 exclu with not even 25m ps5 selled in the world (Not even 2m in japan at this moment) = Flop incoming. Sadly for the franchise.

Nah, it will be just fine with the PS5 install base. By March 2023 PS5 will have shipped 37.3M so by the time FF16 launches next summer PS5 will be over 40M strong. The franchise sells best in the West now so the Japan numbers would be offset by that. Not to mention it will likely have a nice boost for PS5 in Japan anyways. (And technically PS5 at this point is already over 2M in Japan as the recent numbers were from last week. I am sure they have already sold over 878 consoles in the last 4 days.)

If rumors are true and Sony is releasing a single sku with an attachable disc drive next year along with the rumored 30 million shipment units for the next fiscal year then this franchise is going to continue to do well.  The game will continue to sell well after release, especially with the marketing push behind it as well as Yoshida’s recent track record. The reception for this game thus far has been overwhelmingly positive and anyone writing it off with just under a year to go before it releases isn’t paying attention. 2023 is going to be a great year for PS5 and this franchise, especially with FF7R part 2 following soon after this.

I hope im wrong and you are right. FF16 is always top 1/2 on famitsu most wanted game, but with only 2m ps5 selled in japan. I am not convinced at all, neither by sony and its sales projection. Lets see if they can really sell the 18m they wanted to sell at the end of their fiscal year first.
