I think the key will be the 4080 sales more so than anything. If people buy those, then we are truly fucked.

What abput the 60/70 models?, I'm pretty much of the belief that we shouldn't be touching Nvidia cards this gen, because that opening keynote pretty much told us what they have planned this gen: higher prices and exclusive tech locked to one series.

Unrelated, but the more I ehar about 8k gaming, the sillier it sounds.

Like this guy be gawking at the perf he's getting at 8l, like yeah dude, you splurge out an insane amount of dosh, you're bound to get good gains from it.

my main beef with any sort of focus on 4-8k gaming, is that you're technically locking your expectations onto the res alone, meaning you're fucked if you ever wanna play games older than 5 yrs ago, especially games like say, Warcraft 3, which would look fucking ass ugly at 4-8k. 4-8k is pretty much that res where you really wanna show off texture detail and overall crispiness, and well, we're still at that point where it's not really viable to go that route, let alone for 8k, and anything from the past is just gonna look like trash unless 4-8k textures are modded in.

I'm prob gonna hold onto this viewpoint until 4-8k becomes what we see 1080p as, (to an extent, 1440p as well) the norm, but that's unlikely to happen for another 10-15 yrs, esp at the rate the prices are, current eco being gutter trash and middle class dissolving to dust.

Also lmao at that native 4-8k Cyberpunk benches he did, the perf with pure horsepower from the 4090 looks like shit, and still shows that we're going to be heavily reliant on DLSS/FSR for the foreseeable future, native past 1440p just isn't at all viable if games are going to push RT.

(I swear I also heard coil whine at ^:18 mark, like I could hear metal clinking somewhere inside that case of his, if true that's hella bad for a new setup).

Well if people buy the 4080s, it basically gives Jensen the aokay to release shit tier prices of the lower end cards. If people don't buy the 80 class, there may be hope yet.

And yea, 8k is a joke. At best, people should get 4k but only really at 32 inches. The rest should be focused on the image quality. Does it have proper HDR? Does it have OLED? Etc. People that buy 8k for PC use are dumb imo.
