No one interested in VR gaming should even consider this headset. Only people that should buy this is creators/businesses that have a professional reason to get it. In my opinion the PC VR space for gamers is in a wait and see phase. It hard to recommend anyone go out and buy a PC only VR headset right now given it cost and that I think we are one or two years away from some next generation options. Don't get me wrong I love my Vive Pro 2 but it just hard to recommend someone spending well over 1000 on it or similar ones today till we have a better idea what will be available between 2023-2025. For people on a tight budget that want to experience VR for first time I guess I recommend Quest 2 even through it pains me to do so. You can use it as a standalone or connect it to PC if you got a decent one for better graphics. For better VR experience even through software might be limited compare to something that support steamVR or Meta store I would wait for the PS VR2 especially if you own a PS5 already. Need official reviews but on paper it looking really good on hardware side. For high end PC I really hoping VALVE come out with the rumor Deckard as I think that could bring some new life to PC VR. I don't expect that till 2024 through so going to be a bit of wait. The perfect alliance to me would be for Sony and Valve to make a deal where Valve will fund more first party VR games like Half Life alyx which still best VR game out there and they are timed exclusive PC then they come to the PlayStation and the reverse is true that Sony made VR game with be timed exclusive on PlayStation then come to SteamVR on PC. |
Yea personally, I haven't been all that interested in VR since its inception. While I like the premise, with the current tech and pricing, it doesn't feel like it's worth it. I did buy Oculus rift back in the day and outside of a few games and lots and lots of porn, I never really used it. They would need some ground breaking game for me to invest into one regardless of price.
