It's normal because of the caliber of game. Open World Pokemon game is going to sell over 6 million copies in Japan and 30 million copies worldwide at full price. 

The caliber of the game doesn't have anything to do with it going from 45 preorders in one day to just two the next. It being a lot of preorders in general is to be expected.
