Russia and Ukraine flashpoint

The above makes me wonder if Ukraine’s strategy here is force a mass Russian retreat similar to the withdrawal from around Kyiv and the northern front.

This is just me speculating but could be a realistic strategy against an enemy with superior, albeit poorly equipped, numbers.
