Battle Royale craze progenitor PUBG: Battlegrounds seems pretty happy with its free-to-play release, as parent company Krafton says it has picked up more than 80,000 new users per day since it went free in January. Revenue from PUBG is also up, with average revenue per user up "more than 20% [quarter over quarter]." This news comes courtesy of the company's revenue report for the first half of 2022.

GOG starts the week with five new deals, including three Deals of the Day:

Steam has one new sale: the Nomad Games Super Sale features up to 80% discounts on digital board games until August 19: https://store.steampowered.com/developer/nomad/sale/nomadgamesdevelopersale.

Steam lets you add free stuff easily now and it is absolutely majestic
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-lets-you-add-free-stuff-easily-now-and-it-is-absolutely-majestic/
At long last, you can add a free game or DLC to your Steam account without starting up the installation process for that game. I am ecstatic. I am truly, unreasonably, excited by this change. The new "Add to Library" button appears on the Steam desktop client beside free items on the storefront, including free games, Free To Play games, games that are temporarily free in a giveaway, and free DLC. No longer do you need to deal with the install dialogue or worse to get free stuff.

RE Biohazard has shared a video, showcasing a fan remake of the first Resident Evil game they’ve been working on in Unreal Engine 5. This fan remake stays true to the concept of the original classic game, so be sure to watch the video.

This Classic Edition Remake of Resident Evil will play similarly to the original 32-bit game. And yes, from the looks of it, it will have tank controls.

Take a look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Fan Remake in Source 2 Engine
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/take-a-look-at-counter-strike-global-offensive-fan-remake-in-source-2-engine/
A team of modders is currently working on a remake of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in Source 2 Engine, and have shared the first gameplay video from it.
The team claims that it took it around six months in order to create what is being shown. Additionally, it claims that this remake does not have a single line of code from the original game, and that it has created all the systems and mechanics from scratch.
For those wondering, the team does plan to release this remake to the public. However, there is currently no ETA on when this will happen.

Unofficial Modding Tools released for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/unofficial-modding-tools-released-for-marvels-spider-man-remastered/
Modder ‘jedijosh920’ has just released an unofficial modding tool for the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. According to the modder, this Modding Tool allows you to extract and replace any asset in the game’s asset archives.
As its description reads:
“It’s the foundation of creating and installing mods, having an easy-to-use mod file system where users can create and share their mods, and also install them.”
The tool also has various smaller tools such as String To Hash Generator which hashes a string input to a game’s hash. Additionally, it includes Generate Layout CSV to see the asset information more clearly for advanced users.
>> The lack of those tools haven't stopped people from making some mods:

Spider-Man mods are here, you can already play as Black Cat or Stan Lee and wear the symbiote suit
https://www.pcgamer.com/spider-man-mods-are-here-you-can-already-play-as-black-cat-or-stan-lee-and-wear-the-symbiote-suit/
We've waited long enough. After all that time impatiently modding Spider-Man into other games like GTA San Andreas, GTA 4, and of course, Skyrim, now we can finally mod Spider-Man Remastered. Which means we'll reskin him as someone else.
Among the first batch are mods to turn Spider-Man into Black Cat and Stan Lee, though neither has any animations yet. You'll be stuck in an A-pose, which is probably fine for the screenshot memes these are made for. Spider-modding on PC is in its infancy, with a lot of the usual tedious reshades filling NexusMods, though I do like the look of Noir New York It doesn't just turn everything black and white, but promises "Increased contrast, blacks are darker, whites a little more tame, and some bloom and film grain for the old movie feel."
Less memetically, there's a No HUD mod, which drops the UI at the press of the caps-lock key, and some costume replacers. The Symbiote Black Suit mod swaps the Advanced Suit for an outfit we might see an official version of in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2, while the Miles Morales Suit replaces it with what is apparently "a leftover model from when they were developing a multiplayer game mode."

These two Cyberpunk 2077 mods unlock/introduce new explorable areas
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/these-two-cyberpunk-2077-mods-unlock-introduce-new-explorable-areas/
Modder ‘Krat0es‘ has released two new mods for Cyberpunk 2077 that unlock and introduce new explorable areas to the game. By using these two mods, players can expand the game, and explore more areas of its city.
Going into more details, the first mod unlocks the repair shop named “Red, White, and Used”, so players can enter the building. This shop has tools, workbenches, cables, useful items and a sniper rifle.
On the other hand, the second mod expands to the upper floors of No Tell motel unlocking new interiors and views never seen before in Night City.

Fortnite Creative is flexible enough to make a convincing tribute to Bioshock's Rapture
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-creative-is-flexible-enough-to-make-a-convincing-tribute-to-bioshocks-rapture/
First spotted by our peers at PCGamesN, a user by the name of FluxCapacimoose has created a tribute to Bioshock's underwater utopian experiment Rapture in Fortnite Creative, and the result is pretty impressive.
Flux has uploaded a video walkthrough of their creation, and you can also try it out yourself in Fortnite with the code 3885-0261-7529. I really appreciate the skin Flux opted for in their walkthrough—a vintage diver suit reminiscent of the Big Daddies—and I'm genuinely shocked at how well they nailed the Rapture vibe with Fortnite Creative's restrictions.

Cosmic horror abounds in Doom 2 mod Divine Frequency
https://www.pcgamer.com/cosmic-horror-abounds-in-doom-2-mod-divine-frequency/
Doom 2 mod Divine Frequency speaks of wonderful horrors to my subconscious, delivering a demo level that smacks with the kind of cosmic horror dreamscape I'm always looking for. Creator TheNewGenghisKhan has laid out an enticing nightmare world that's threatening to give me the next hit of my drug of choice, and it seems like they're drawing from the same well of nightmare metal albums and cosmic horror that the original Doom games and later ilk (opens in new tab) draw from.
