Its quite sus how hard he's trying to get people to buy new graphics cards right now. And that he's 'helping people'.. There's a flooded market of them in retail channels. And thats not taking into consideration of the used market which is going lower by the day. If you can get a 3000 series rn and are happy then great, otherwise trying to spread FUD about 4000 series availability and 'delay' trying to get people to buy buy buy.. just looks like he's another sellout or just have some bad info from unhappy board partners (probably sources from EVGA/MSI). Not buying it Jay. And yeah Nvidia is going to be a world of crap if they don't release this year. They can't sit on unsold inventory forever.. demands from board partners or w/e don't have a say. |
Pretty much, it really hurts his reputation imo. Like he keeps referencing how great of a value the 3000 series was at launch and due to that, it's still a great value because the performance is the same. But it feels like he is ignoring why the 3000 series was so good and what will make 4000 series also great. A 3060 Ti that had an MSRP of $400 was able to beat a 2080 Super that costed $700. And that's on 8nm Samshat node. 4000 series will be not only be on TSMCs node but a "custom" node made for Nvidia based on 5nm. So it's pretty safe to say that you will get 3080 performance around $400 and crazy performance at $700.
So it's very dumb of him to tell people to not only go out there and buy it but to buy it because it's at MSRP. Like bruh...

The worst part of his "buy now because they won't launch in a year" argument (I haven't seen the video so I don't know the details), is that, even if true, it's completely flawed. There is also AMD on the market and they will launch their cards. So you can buy now (when he did the video) some overpriced cards or wait because it doesn't matter what will happen, those cards will get cheaper either because the 4000 series launches and they become "last gen" or because AMD launches their cards and, no matter how big or small their performance jump is, the 3000 series at the actual prices won't be attractive anymore. He made a big mistake and, instead of admiting it and move on, he doubles down on it, making it worse. |
Honestly just feels like next gen PCs will be microwave ovens at that point. CPUs gonna be hotter, GPUs gonna be hotter, RAM gonna be hotter and even SSDs gonna be hotter let alone the wattage increases. I do not envy those that are in warmer climates.
And yea, the entire video is facepalm worthy. Also it looks like both Nvidia and AMD AIBs just filed their registration at the EEC:
I think it's pretty damn clear the launch will be happening sooner than later unlike what Jay says.
