“ Putin allies push to call him ‘ruler’ rather than president

A party loyal to Vladimir Putin has suggested that he should be referred to as “ruler” instead of president, amid a reported push to break with words viewed as having been assimilated from the west.
The press service of the Liberal Democratic Party in the Duma told the Tass news agency: “Although constitutional amendments are not on the current agenda, we still insist that it is important to call the country’s main post in Russia.
“We suggest two options: either a ruler or a head of state.”
Asked about the matter by the Tass news agency, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said: “It is a new idea. There is no position on this matter.”

This reminds of an Austrian politician in Germany who changed his title to ‘leader’.
