Yeah I mean I get they are pushing for 4K so they can sell their TV's hence no 1440P or OLED.

These are just middling releases and a huge missed opportunity from their new brand. Sony should've gone big or not bothered. $900 is a tough sell for a 27" monitor for those specs. And true that 1080P 240hz one is just bad, particularity at that price point. Considering you can get similar spec ones for half the price.

For their top end they could've and should have just went with the same 34" QD-OLED Samsung panel and just pony up and support 1440P and Freesync on the PS5. Would've cost Sony less to make and be a far superior product.

I just don't get the stupid insane push for 4k monitors these days. Going by Steam client data stats, most folks are still playing at 1080p, folks like Jayz2C, GN and others usually push for 1080p/1440p stuff (when they ever get the chance to talk about monitors), the only one who ever pushes hardcore for 4-8k is Linus, because that's his fetish.

Just offering a 4k VRR monitor with no G-sync or Free-sync and no other res types makes it a dismal offering and giving no real set of options to choose from their end.

Yeah 4K gaming orientated monitors are still quite niche in that you really need a lot of GPU power to properly experience it. And unfortunately due to high cost and practically very little stock of high end graphics cards for consumers the last couple of years its been a bust. Requiring basically a RTX 3080/90 or 6900XT to run current gen games to a satisfactory level.

Maybe when we get mainstream cards on 3080 level that might change, otherwise content creators like Linus who push for 4K/8K and more don't really care and just make video's for the clicks or videos to whoever sponsors them - I do like his video's though for entertainment purposes. While others like Gamers Nexus, Jayz2Cents may look out more for the actual people using stuff they are making a video of, on top of being more impartial and more grounded to what's actually available and obtainable by consumers.

Btw I think the M9 supports both Freesync and Gsync. I was talking about the PS5 and Sony's reluctance to support 1440P despite running on an AMD APU. Its just silly not supporting the same tech. Plus, pushing for 4K at 27" as well makes little sense as the pixel density is overkill and actually hurts usability due to sub-optimal scaling in Windows. Its a strangely niche device trying to bridge the game for console gamers and PC owners while not being outstanding for use on either end.
