Part two of the news:
What Townscaper needed, apparently, was delightfully tiny trains

I love Townscaper. Oskar Stålberg's delightful little island toy struck a real soft spot for the part of me that misses living in quaint little coastal towns, and it's practically perfect in generating seaside villages. But gosh, wouldn't it be nice if it also featured trains?
Disney Dreamlight Valley gameplay trailer reveals a surprisingly grim magic kingdom

We got our first look at Disney Dreamlight Valley in May, when we called it "the perfect Stardew Valley/Animal Crossing life-sim hybrid." During today's Nintendo Direct livestream, we got a closer look at what's in store, along with a release date: September 6, 2022.
Steam's most-wishlisted game admits to using some 'volunteer' workers
https://www.pcgamer.com/steams-most-wishlisted-game-admits-to-using-some-volunteer-workers/
Propnight developer Fntastic recently came under fire after putting out a call for "volunteers" to help it finish work on its next game, an open-world survival MMO called The Day Before (opens in new tab). The criticism was simple: Fntastic is an established developer and The Day Before has the potential to be a major hit: It holds the top position on Steam's list of most-wishlisted games. So why is the studio trying to avoid paying people for their work?
Total War: Warhammer 3 is shaking things up with the Immortal Empires map and starting positions

As the release of Immortal Empires for Total War: Warhammer 3 draws nearer, Creative Assembly has been slowly revealing more info about the free-DLC campaign presenting an epic free-for-all war for domination. There was the beta version of its map, which will be the biggest in any Total War, roughly twice the size of Warhammer 2's Mortal Empires map. It'll need to be, since it has to have room for almost 100 more starting factions (Mortal Empires had 183, Immortal Empires will have around 278, subject to change during the beta), and 12 more legendary lords. As of the latest blog, we know where some of those lords will begin their wars for domination.
Wizard royale Spellbreak is shutting down next year
https://www.pcgamer.com/wizard-royale-spellbreak-is-shutting-down-next-year/
Spellbreak, the fantasy battle royale from Proletariat, has announced it'll be shutting down in early 2023.
The game attempted to offer a twist on the traditional battle royale, swapping guns for gauntlets that put the power of the various elements at your fingertips. It had a favourable launch on the Epic Games Store, garnering a tidy five million players in its first three weeks. Chris Livingston spent a fair bit of time with the game back then, finding a lot of fun in its fast-paced movement and combat.
>> At least there's good news for the developers...
Blizzard acquires Spellbreak developer as it closes doors on the battle royale

Blizzard has scooped up developer Proletariat for an unknown amount.
The news comes mere hours after the Boston-based developer announced it would be calling time on battlemage royale Spellbreak, which is set to shut down sometime in early 2023. Proletariat has already been working with Blizzard since May, with the deal seeing the 100-person team officially integrated. According to VentureBeat, the team will be moving over to work on World of Warcraft along with its upcoming Dragonflight expansion.
Overwatch fans are mourning Symmetra as Blizzard nerfs her into the ground

The second Overwatch 2 beta launched last night, feeling a lot more fleshed out than the one we got back in May. New character models to peep, a new hero to tinker around with and numerous changes to existing heroes. Some changes are pretty decent, like Pharah's concussive blasts. Others, not so much.
2021's best RPG improves a key feature alongside fixing 'wonky barber jobs'

Wildermyth was one of last year's most welcome surprises, a tactical RPG that interwove crafted and procedural narrative to at times incredible effect. It's a wonderful story generator, basically, and it scooped up our RPG of the year award for getting as close to the feel of a tabletop RPG as games have managed to get.
The game has received a new patch, named in Wildermyth style as the Mara Mallard patch, and a roadmap to go alongside it. The latter is not as exciting as it sounds (if in fact you find the idea of roadmaps exciting), with the developers mainly talking about how 2022 will eventually see DLC, more events, and things like a soundtrack release. It also says that, as long as there's the demand, they'll do more merch and possibly DLC in 2023.
Please excuse my bad English.
