Tuesday news, part two:
Stalker 2 delayed until 2023
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/stalker-2-delayed-until-2023/
Development on Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl recently resumed, after being paused in February following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Studio GSC Game World was based in Kyiv but has had to help its staff and their families relocate, during which period it also changed the game's name: hit's now Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, reflecting the Ukrainian spelling of the region.
The game was still scheduled for a December launch though, given the circumstances, this seemed increasingly optimistic. At the Xbox and Bethesda showcase last night, a slide near the end of the presentation listing games coming out over the next 12 months showed Stalker 2 as now being down for a 2023 release.
>> Perfectly understandable.
Bethesda confirms your Starfield character will be a silent protagonist
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/bethesda-confirms-your-starfield-character-will-be-a-silent-protagonist/
We finally got a good long look at Bethesda's space RPG Starfield over the weekend. The meaty, 15-minute Starfield gameplay trailer featured lots of details about how planetary exploration will work, how you're able to build, customize, and fly your spaceships, plus a look at combat, character creation, and the main storyline.
A few details weren't called out specifically, and one long-unanswered question wasn't addressed in the trailer: Will your Starfield character be mute, as in Skyrim, or will they have voiced lines like in Fallout 4?
Wonder no longer. Bethesda confirmed it today on Twitter: Your character in Starfield will be a silent protagonist.

Prompted by the backlash against the microtransaction-fuelled mobile game Diablo Immortal, Blizzard's Diablo boss Rod Fergusson took to Twitter to reassure fans that the upcoming Diablo 4 "is a full price game" that's designed first and foremost for PC and consoles.

Farthest Frontier trailer reminds us that life sucks when you're a medieval peasant
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/farthest-frontier-trailer-reminds-us-that-life-sucks-when-youre-a-medieval-peasant/
I was immediately intrigued when Farthest Frontier was announced in February because it's a medieval city simulator being made by Crate Entertainment, the studio responsible for Grim Dawn. I very much like Grim Dawn, it's one of the best action-RPGs to come along in years, but it's also, you know, an action-RPG.
City sims and ARPGs are pretty disparate genres, but as unalike as they may be, the new teaser for Farthest Frontier that appeared at the PC Gaming Show emphasized one major similarity between these two: Shit is grim.
Embracer CEO defends taking $1B from Saudi Arabia
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/embracer-ceo-defends-taking-dollar1b-from-saudi-arabia/
Embracer Group announced last week that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its Savvy Gaming Group, had made a $1 billion investment in the company, granting it an 8.1% stake in Embracer Group. (...) In a subsequent message, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors defended the move, saying that he understands people have "different views on this topic." The decision to accept the investment was not taken lightly, he said, and will not change how the company is run.

Just when we thought not-E3) was done, Capcom pulled us back into a livestream to announce some cool Resident Evil stuff. During today's Capcom Showcase, Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village is getting a major update to both its story and side mode, Mercenaries. Soon, you'll be able to step into the shoes of Lady Dimitrescu herself and play through the entirety of Village in third-person.
Microsoft reaches 'ground-breaking agreement' with union representing game workers
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/microsoft-reaches-ground-breaking-agreement-with-union-representing-game-workers/
The Communications Workers of America, the parent organization of the Game Workers Alliance union, has entered into a "labor neutrality agreement" with Microsoft over unionizing workers at Activision Blizzard. The "ground-breaking agreement," which will take effect 60 days after Microsoft completes its acquisition of the studio, "reflects a fundamental belief by both organizations that enabling workers to freely and fairly make a choice about union representation will benefit Microsoft and its employees."
Assassin's Creed Celebration Stream confirmed for this week
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/assassins-creed-celebration-stream-confirmed-for-this-week/
Ubisoft has announced an Assassin's Creed Celebration Livestream for tomorrow, June 14. That date doesn't mark any remarkable milestone or anniversary for the series, but it does coincide vaguely with not-E3, so there's every possibility it will be more than just a random celebration.
Upcoming Dragon's Dogma celebration video has hopes high for a sequel

Not-E3 continues to spill over into the coming weeks. Yesterday saw Capcom take to the stage for a 35-minute presentation, showing off new a playable Lady D in the upcoming Resident Evil Village DLC and ray-tracing updates for Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7.
Tucked in amongst the presentation was a brief appearance from Hidaeki Itsuno, the game director for Dragon's Dogma. With the game recently turning a decade old, Itsuno revealed that "a video celebrating 10 years of Dragon's Dogma" will be released later this week. It's not known how long the video is or what it contains, but it's already got plenty of hopes up for the next entry in the series.
