Something I've noticed the last couple of days is news sources citing comments and misinterpreting them - so far in The Times and The Independepent and both cases in relation to bulletins from the UK Ministry of defence.

I've forgotten what the The Times did but This is what The Independent did. This morning the MoD posted an update in relation to the fighting in Sieverodonetsk. The updates reads "reports of heavy shelling near Izyium suggest Russia is preparing to make a renewed assault on the northern axis."

The Independent now has a headline saying Russia is preparing a new attack on northern Ukraine, based on this comment. Now I can see how easy the error is to make based on the wording - the use of the phrase 'northern axis'. But Izyium isn't in northern Ukraine, its in the east - just north of Sieverodonetsk. The comment is in relation to a potential attack to the north of the embattled city, not a new attack on the Kyiv region.

My point is be careful to understand what posts mean and their sources.
